Training of your dog is very imprtant. Rather you have an adult dog or are starting from scratch with a puppy. it is your responsiblity to learn how to communicate with them in order to get them to do what you ask. Everything from simple sit command in order to feed them, to the come when they are called to avoid from them getting hurt, training is the most important aspect of any dogs life. There are several places to take your new puppy or even older dogs for training. I have always recommended that dogs be taken to some where that they will interact with other dogs and people in order to be socialized. Both Petsmart and Petco have excellent training programs. Me personally, when ever I am working with a German breed, I prefer to train them in German. The dogs are not aware that you speak in English, but give the commands in German, they learn by repetition and praise.
